Mzungu Kichaa announces 'unplugged' spring tour in April & May 2013

Mzungu Kichaa has been selected to perform at the Danish showcase festival SPOT (www.spotfestival.dk) in May 2013. The tour also includes performances in Tanzania, Germany and the UK. Concert details will be announced on www.facebook.com/mzungukichaa.

Mzungu Kichaa has been selected to perform at SPOT festival, which is one of the most prestigious showcase festivals in the country. At SPOT he will launch a new performance setup, which will be 'unplugged' and more 'raw' than ever.

"I realised that when I try to enter a new territory with my music, the main problem I face is mobility. My band is from Tanzania and I feel a band from Europe cannot replace them.  Therefore I decided to reinvent my music and create an unplugged setup. However, in August and November I will be touring Denmark again with my full Tanzanian band. But I am very excited about standing on my own two feet and getting close and personal with my audience through my ”unplugged” concerts this spring," says Mzungu Kichaa.

Danish born Mzungu Kichaa grew up in Africa. His eclectic life journey is reflected in his vibrant sound, shaped by the diverse musical traditions he has encountered. The award-winning artist is considered one of the most popular touring acts in East Africa and is steadily gaining popularity on the international scene with his unique interpretation of the Tanzanian genre, Bongo Flava.

When Mzungu Kichaa released his debut album Tuko Pamoja in 2009, all his songs were in Swahili. In December 2012, he released an EP titled "Hustle", which includes his first songs in English and resulted in a nomination for a Danish Music Award in the category "Best World Track".

"For my new release I decided to share my story with my non-Swahili speaking fans by writing in English. Hustle is a project of self-discovery in search of my sound and identity. It represents the universal fight for an existence and a plea to never give up your dreams."
